Race committee assignments for WCSC’s 2026 season have been uploaded to the Club website, and can be found under the “Race Committee” tab on the home page. Race committee crew assignments are accessed by the “Race Committee” sub tab. PROs can access contact information for their crews via the “PRO’s Page sub tab. As member’s contact information is involved, PROs must login to gain access.
‘In other news…’
The 2026 Commodore’s Cup, the first of 6 scheduled pursuit-start winter races, was contested on 1 Jan. Twelve boats registered, 11 boats started the race, and 7 boats completed the race. Conditions were excellent on the race course: west wind at 12 to 20, sunshine, and temps up to 60.
The race had much to offer: one boat OCS, three boats capsized, and a very close finish. With only around 400 yds remaining of the 17 mile course, the three leadings boats (J22, J105, Laser) were separated by only 50 yds. Congratulations to the winner, whose name will be added to the prepetual trophy and who will receive a bottle of rum (probably not prepetual) at the awards ceremony on Commissioning Day.
The after-race social with Allison’s hot soup and race stories (possibly exaggerated) around the fireplace was enjoyed by the racers (particularly the capsize survivors). Next Frostbite is 10 Jan.
