Hospice Regatta Fundraising event

2020 Hospice Fundraising event now thru October 11

 

After a lot of deliberation and discussion, we made the difficult decision to host a 'virtual' fundraising event this year. We debated this for quite awhile and finally decided it was in the best interest of the club and the membership that we would not hold our traditional Regatta and sailing event. And, as you know, it’s much more than a sailing event with a lot of social stuff packed into a long weekend for 350+ attendees. With that in mind, we decided to focus on fundraising in 2020.

So, we really need your help! It’s incredibly important for the WCSC membership and previous Regatta attendees to focus for the next 60 days helping raising money for the Hospice of the Upstate. More than ever, they need our help. Most of the fundraising events they had planned for this year have either been cancelled or were unable to raise the funds they had expected, leaving a pretty big hole in their budget. This is your chance to lend them a helping hand. And we have plenty of ways you can do that.

This is were you come in. We still have a goal of raising $85,000 and this would be tough on a normal year, let alone this year. We have lot’s of ways you can contribute and help us raise money in search of our goal.


Qgiv fundraising site

We will use the Qgiv fundraising site again this year. Everything can be done on the site including purchasing regatta clothing, buy auction and raffle chances along with setting up your Sailing for others Campaign. The site address is located by going to our club web site at www.wcsc-sailing.org and clicking on the Hospice links or you can go directly to the fundraising site located at https://secure.qgiv.com/event/2020hospice/.


Regatta Clothing

We have a full compliment of Regatta clothing in our store for purchase. The normal items including T-shirts (cotton and wicking), sweatshirts and hoodies are available online. We have also added a Polo shirt, a Regatta bag and personal note cards (these are really cool, check them out). Go to the regatta store and view all the items we have available. Note that all clothing will be shipped free of charge to your address. No shipping costs (Can you say Hospice Prime?).


Sailing for Others

We will again be holding the Sailing for Others sponsorship challenge to help raise additional funds. This program is not limited to just skippers. We encourage anyone who wants to help us raise money to start lining up your friends, family and co-workers to help. Everything can be done online at www.wcsc-sailing.org and follow the links to the Qgiv fundraising site. Again, this year we are giving away one-year membership dues to WCSC. That's right, one year free membership dues to WCSC will be the winning raffle item. We will also draw a 2nd place (6 months free membership dues) and a 3rd place (3 months free membership dues). Note, this does not include any boat, slip, storage or equipment fees, only your quarterly membership dues up to $616 in value.


To qualify for the raffle, you must raise more than $500 thru the Sailing for Others challenge. If you raise more than $1,000, your name will be entered twice in the raffle and at each $1,000 increment you will get an additional chance to win. That means $2,000 raised will mean 3 tickets, $3,000 means 4 chances and so on. We hope this helps encourage all Hospice participants to promote the Sailing for Others program and help us meet our goal. Contact your friends, family and co-workers to help support the event. Note: we will once again invoke the 'Baker rule' where you can only win once.


A ‘virtual’ Saturday night Auction and Raffle

We will be holding the raffle on Saturday night October 10th at 8:00pm, virtually. To be part of the event, go to the store and buy your chance for some cool items (Samsung TV, Wine tasting party, Hospice prints, 50/50 cash, etc.). As more items are added to the Auction and raffle, we will be updating the store. Note: anyone can buy a chance, so let your friends and family know about the Hospice store and the chance to win some cool items. Note all winners can pick up their winnings at Hospice of the Upstate after the drawing or have them shipped to their location (winner is responsible for shipping costs).


We will also be holding online silent auctions for other great items that have been donated. To date, we have a week in a Florida Condo, House in Puerto Rico, the Missouri hunt cabin, Michelin tires and some other great things. More information to come on the silent auction items as we are in the process of setting that up. It should be ready soon.


If you have something you would like to donate that is greater than $100 in value, please help us out and contact Anna Kay Lord. Things like tools, sailing accessories, electronics, camping supplies are popular and generate a lot of ticket sales and will go along ways towards helping us achieve our goal.
