2019 Diva Regatta to benefit Safe Harbor
Empowering Women both On and Off the Water
On May 4, WCSC will be hosting our 8th annual Diva Regatta to benefit Safe Harbor. Over the last 7 years, this event has raised more than $33,000 for Safe Harbor. Last year our goal was $10,000 which got blown out of the water with a final number of $16,600. Our goal for 2019 is $18,000. Safe Harbor provides a continuum of services for victims of domestic violence and their children. They also strive to eliminate cultural acceptance of domestic violence through a coordinated community response, prevention and education. The aim is to influence a culture where all people are safe and valued in their relationships.
We will have a Distance Course with 2 fleets. One requiring a female at the helm and the other requiring a female participating on board. They will have the same start but will be scored separately. We will also have a separate Juniors course. After the sailing we will have raffles, appetizer, dinner (please rsvp for the dinner), and awards. New Addition: Appetizer Contest. Our Sailormen would like to have a contest for the best appetizer as well as hosting the social hour. If you would like to bring a dish and compete, email Dacia Schrecengost. Sunday we will have brunch, and for those who can stay and play, we will have some more sailing opportunities.
